Meditation and Religion
Only very few people choose their religion. Most people are born into a religion and grow up in it. The religion becomes their home, if they want it or not.
Meditation is not religious, it is a tool for self-realisation. Our view of the world will grow with our inner development and will eventually be based on our own inner experience of the Truth.
Members of all religions can meditate without having to leave their religion. But the one who meditates will in the end look for the one Truth that is hidden in all religions and from which all religions have come into existence. This Truth lies deep in our heart and can be realised by everybody who cares to look for it.
Meditation on Religion and Spirituality
Ten people can be practicing ten different religions, yet share the same spiritual experiences and understandings.
Religion, with its guidelines and rituals, provides form and format for living a spiritual life.
What is spirituality? The basis of pure unconditional love and wisdom which is the unfolding of the human heart, which in turn creates a happy, healthy and wholesome life. When you are spiritualy nourished it is easy to love and care for others, to forgive and stay presently centered.
Pure unconditional love is the spiritual basis of religion.
Religious tools are the means by which we dig into the depths of our mind and soul through devotional service and practice, nurturing our character into a full-blown flower of wisdom.
Religions may seem to have many differences at first glance but the common goal is spiritual enlightenment. Our upbringing, culture, personal tendencies may draw those ten people in a room to ten different religions, but the the goal of each person is self-realisation.
